We signed a contract on a house today :-) It took about 3 weeks to find it and we've seen something like 25 homes. Assuming no issues with the home inspection, etc we will close on May 18-exactly a month before my 30th birthday. It's a good thing too, because all this house hunting was going straight to my hips. I've regained about 2lbs *sigh* unless that's water weight from all the eating out we've been doing. I wouldn't be surprised if it was.
The neighborhood has sidewalks, a small pond (read: boy magnet), and a playground. Behind the home is a wooded area owned by a convent. Should they decide to build, the village has already protected the neighborhood by making them keep at least 50 feet from our property lines and that area must stay wooded. They are thinking about a retirement community for retired nuns-I didn't know nuns retired. Somehow, I don't think that noise will be a problem.
Just wanted to share the news. I need to catch up with the group tonight.
What wonderful news that is!! Best of luck with everything!!!

Wow how nice for you. 🙂 I have a friend who rents a little home she has on her property to the catholic church and there are some retired nurses who live there. They are lovely ladies, and watch her whole area when she is out of town. They also know tons of people who have been helpful to her.

Yes nuns retire. Just a lot later than most people. The order usually sets up nursing home facilities for them. It should be very quiet there so I would not worry about it too much. My daughters school was run by nuns. The top 2 floors of the building were for the aging nuns. The only time anyone saw them was at meal time when they came down to the first floor to the dining room (separate wing from the school). The kids at the school used to go visit the nuns all the time and loved it.

It could be anything, but I'll take stress as a reason for that. I have been eating out more than I like with all the hunting too. That should subside for a while and then when we move it, I'm sure it'll pick right back up. *sigh*

That's cool. We found out that dh has a nun in the family on his mother's side. I don't think she ever really retired. His family is a hard working lot.
