My point is that it's sensible, but they just don't seem to "get it". Relay the color I want to the cook. Maybe s/he can figure it out.
Steakhouses know what rare/medium/etc. mean. They teach their staffs exactly what they are. Any restaurant that gets it wrong and plays dumb is hoping you'll just eat it anyway because otherwise it starts costing them money.
Right. That's why I've learned where *not* to order a steak. I had a learning curve, just like everyone else.
