That's 1/2", not 7/16. Never saw a pair of 7/16 so that may have just
been a typo. The old Schwinns used to used 1/2" pedals, but only up
until 1983. Nowadays, I think that size is far less common, and may
only be used on kids' bikes and similar. I think it's pretty safe to
consider 9/16" as the "default" on new pedals unless indicated
otherwise.
For those of us who have been into unicycling for a long time, the
problem is having 1/2" cranks and pedals scattered among your
unicycles, causing much confusion when you want to switch things
around... 😠
