Pedal spacers

If they aren't getting special pedals made with a longer threaded shaft, I
guess so.
You might need to run some locktite instead of the grease on the threads.
When I first started out riding bikes again after a many year hiatus, I had
to use "KneeSaver" extensions to widen the Q-factor for me.
Now that i am a lot skinnier now, I don't need them anymore.
At least not until I get fat again.

No and NO...remember the crank attach point is aluminum. get a pedal
that can make the spndle longer or have lots of side to side adjust.
Look CX-6 or Speedplay.

Since unscrewing isn't the issue, loctite won't make a difference. I do
not recommend 3mm of spacers onto the pedal spindle. You are asking for
a pedal to break at the crank arm hole.

Thread engagement is not a problem because most pedals don't have threads
anyway on the first few mm's. Of course the threads in the crank also don't start
directly but when you stick to 2-3mm about the same amount of threads engage
the crank only not as far in.
If you search in google groups on spacer and jobst brandt i'm sure you'll find some
old posts about this describing how using a spacer between pedal and crank could
be better than using none. I also needed some extra Q so i've used 3mm of pedal
spacers on several bikes since then without any problems (85kg).

I wouldn't try it, not unless the spindle was specialy made with a
longer threaded section. The crank arm is only aluminum, after all.

$45? Sounds excessive even for low volume production. One would think
that there is a lot more machining and manufacturing steps involved in
making a pair of pedals, many of which sell for less than $45.

I only need ~5mm per side, 20mm is just a tad too much for me. Plus,
they won't work with my Crank Brothers pedals.

I had knee pain prior to using these. with my size 11.5 4E feet, and a toe
out condition. They aren't for everybody. I paid 28 for them on ebay. Some
guy is selling them on their for less.
