All in EuroTrash Monday.TOP STORY: Paying to Race?It has been reported in the Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, that riders in Italy have had to pay teams to gain a place on the roster, or had to give back some of their wages to stay in the team. The investigation states that riders were expected to bring money to the table, quoting one riders manager saying; “most of my riders pay between 25,000 and 50,000.” The claims have also been repeated in many other media outlets with surprise. This practice of a rider ‘buying’ his place on a team has gone on for a long time. If you are a top rider the teams will come knocking on your door, but if you are an average rider then money is going to be the main problem.
