The investigation states that riders were expected to bring money to the table, quoting one riders manager saying; “most of my riders pay between 25,000 and 50,000.” The claims have also been repeated in many other media outlets with surprise. This practice of a rider ‘buying’ his place on a team has gone on for a long time. If you are a top rider the teams will come knocking on your door, but if you are an average rider then money is going to be the main problem.
