  1. Mara Abbott probably won this race for the pro 1-2 women.
High Roads women caught the men 3-4, and passed several of them.

    Notice the stars and stripes...

I don't know who got 1st, 2nd or 3rd for the men, because I left going the
other way, and didn't return to the sign in area to review results. The
finish was at the top of a very steep climb, and no cars are allowed to park
anywhere near that area. However, before taking a few shots of Mara and Kim,
earlier this guy in blue was way out in front on the climb, about 400 meters
from the top, so he probably won the road race. You can see the 2nd place
rider quite a ways off down the hill.

Why do these guys all look as if they have had surgery on their right
    arms? Are they bionic?

Mara is wearing clashing leg warmers, and has unsightly gaps between her
    arm warmers and her sleeves.

Women's racing or no, that sort of nonsense is not tolerated at the
elite levels. Mara's going to have to raise her game considerably to
    make The Show.

The High Road ladies rode with the 35+ 1/2/3 men and apparently they were
active and attacking a lot. At least one of them placed in the top 6. In
    NorCal, that's pretty respectable.

Those three were all from the pro/1/2 race and had nothing to do with the
High Road women. First guy is my bud Vinny Owens, who is a Fresno resident
and a rising star in NorCal. As Tom said, the 2nd guy is Mark Shimahara. And
the third guy is Jesse Moore, one of the top roadies in NorCal. Now I heard
that all three of them were caught by Ken Hanson who won the race. 1st:
Hanson, 2nd: Vinny, 3rd: Jesse, 4th: MarkZen; 5th Uthman Ray.

Bruce, had I known you were going to be there, maybe I'd have gone and raced
just to meet you! (Well, except for having a cracked rib...) Will you be at
    the CVC crit in March?

Yeah, I knew those men were pro 1-2 men, they were first up the climb, but
its pretty easy to tell. While I knew that the girls were in the mix with
the masters, there were 3-4 riders in there too. These groups starting close
enough together, and even the 3-4 women were allowed to start with the 1-2
women, at the request of the riders. I knew there were be a lot of riders
mixed up by the time they got to the climb, and I lost focus and got
distracted by a guy who got a flat right where I was parked. I missed Anke
Wichmann, Kori Seehafer , Emilia Fahlin, and Madeleine Sandig because they
came by right when that guy started asking me about a ride because he had a
    flat.

CVC has canceled all their stages except the Tower crit. I'm not sure, to
tell the truth, I am really not a big fan of Fresno. I got robbed at
gunpoint twice when I worked there near UCF. The Tower crit area should have
security but gang problems in Fresno have been in the news a lot last year.
I wonder about parking my car near there, and then returning to find it
stripped or missing. I would probably opt for paid parking with security.
The guy who wrote three strikes did it because his daughter was murdered in
broad daylight right there in the Tower district. It's not really a place I
cherish. I think last year there was a stage at Kearney park, which I
believe is gangland area. I sure the hell wouldn't wonder over to that part
of town for fun. It's been quite a while since I lived there, but I would
prefer Clovis, much more friendly city!

I liked the Granite stage last year, because it was held on the same street
I live on almost, basically the same street as it turns into a roundabout to
my house, but that was perfect. Raymond is an awesome place to hold a bike
race, with some nice climbs and very little traffic.
