  1. My club is organising the Tan Hill Audax (208km) on Sunday 13th August, so I thought
I'd give it a plug here.

Route details etc are up online at http://www.cliftoncc.org/static.php?content=tanhill

Basically it's a big loop from York out to the top of the Dales and back again. First
and last 50km are pancake flat, middle 100km is hilly but very pretty. Even better, it
now starts at 8am rather than 7am like in previous years 🙂

I'll be riding, and I know MSeries and Le Blonde were planning on it as well. Vernon?
Be good to see some urc people there.

    Cheers,

    Arthur

  2. yes we are both doing this one - well I hope MSeries is, cos I'm
relying on him for a lift!

Well I'd be tempted, but just *know* I'm not going to achieve a
sufficient increase in my level of fitness in 3 weeks. (That is to say,
I probably could do it but will fail to get around to it! <shrugs>😉

These opinions might not even be mine ...
Let alone connected with my employer ...

I have come to the conclusion that distance isn't so much about fitness
    as about technique.
Ride conservatively, eat and drink aggressively and you can do any
distance you want. Doing it quickly on the other hand..

You know you can rely on me, my blackout dates will not be until
    September or later.

Ordinarily I would be up for the ride. I know the and ride the terrain
several times per year. I'll be doing a JOGLE ride and although I might be
in the area on the day, I'll pass on taking a day out for the ride.

    Next year for certain though.

You just never know. I'm probably the porkiest rider (unless u.r.c. members
know better) doing Audaxes and see the ride as eminently doable. Would do it
    if I wan't otherwise engaged.

Well, I'm vaguely tempted. If anyone who does go sees a young(ish) guy
on a dark-blue Grasshopper recumbent, then it's probably moi!

I'll say hi if you're there. I'll be in club kit riding an Airborne Ti
    road bike.

But, won't all of yer club look like that Arthur!!!

I will be riding' a black n sexy Bob Jackson and wearin' either
Confidis or Chocolade Vlaanderin team kit or possibly a blue 'Max
Hurzler' jersey and blue shorts. I should be easy to spot anyway - I'll
be the one with the smoooooothest legs! ;- )

Might be a hard fought contest that one. And that's just the blokes 🙂

You're right about the club kit though. I'll be wearing a AUK cloth
cap as well. See you all there.

My entry is going in the post in the morning, a pleasant ride round
Yorkshire after the previous days sprint around the Lincoln Flat One.
