You Google for them. If your GPS accepts downloaded mapping there is a

Actually two sets, one for mainland UK + islands and one for Ireland. If
you're talking about using the Garmin POI loader, I haven't tried it yet
so I don't know what sort of format it eats, but it can't be too hard to
turn any other format into the one required with a bit of Excel
programming.

Sped camera I'm not interested in, but I now there are lists out on the
web - Google again!

I've done some more digging around (I've found some proper messy sites
on google), here's one I've found that looks decent but does anyone use
this and inparticular anyone know if it's good for the garmin 60csx?

Speed camera stuff - try the newsgroup uk.rec.gps

UK mountain POI (and free contour data) much of compiled by good old "GSV"
at:

You can selectively load just the summit and trig data to a Garmin GPS unit,
and ignore the contours if you've bought the Garmin/OS commercial product.

Summits will be great if I can download them to GPS and overlay them
with GB mapsource topo.

Yep I did, see a followup to my original post in this thread for one of
the results that was yielded.

Thanks Nige. IT's the summit information I was most after so that's
great I'll take a look at smc. I wasn't aware you could separate the
summit information from the main maps - that'll do nicely if I can
download those to my 60csx to use over the top of mapsource GB topo.

If you want the raw data then go to http://thehelmets.co.uk - take the
Mountain Log link... it's an excel spreadsheet yopu are free to
download and do with what you please?

There's software out there for free which will convert any raw data you
choose (... so if you have POI for favourite wild camping spots you can
easily convert these etc etc and create whatever you want)

group.

cgpsmapper and gpsmapedit Google for them, read the extensive
instructions, and the onward links to help-sites and examples.

If you just want to convert waypoints to POI, or import some as coordinates,
its pretty simple. Ditto to create map lines which are your track
recordings. Much beyond that is fairly advanced, though there is a Yahoo
email list which offers some support (and assumes you've read the manuals
first !!).

loader too so I'll also check that out.

After you've read the *extensive* instructions!

Surely there's a simpler way to turn waypoints into POIs? Like just
exporting to CSV or something?
