Hi, I have a Xtrainer Plus that I haven't used in a long while. I had removed the battery and stored the watch until yesterday. Upon placing a new battery in it, it will not pwr up.
I have only "one gold clip" holding the battery in and I'm wondering if there should be "two gold clips" covering the battery (helping to complete the circuit). I did eventually get the unit to pwr up by shorting the opened back of the watch against the back side of the rear cover. So I know there is a break in the circuit at some point.
If you open your Xtrainer there is either 1 or 2 gold clips holding the battery in place. If I short the positive side of the battery and the "spring" that connects to the piezo alarm, the watch functions. If anyone has a Xtrainer and usually replaces their own battery, could you look and see how many gold clips are crossing the battery. I've contacted Polar but no one has responded so far.

I think there is only one clip. I had a problem once because the battery was too big in diameter. It was a Duracell (Eveready works fine). I sent the watch in to Polar and they fixed it and told me that was the problem. Hope this helps.

Thanks 4 the reply Larry. Thankfully I have plenty of watch type batteries on hand so finding the exact same replacement was easy. But I did notice the piezo disk is cracked along an edge and this may be causing a break in the circuit. Now that I have the watch working, the alarm is barely audible, aka piezo isn't working properly. I'm looking at some old watches/clocks I don't use that have a piezo inside & might swap it out. But I may be better off just getting Polar to replace it with an exact duplicate if they still can. At least the watch functions, sans the alarm, so I can monitor and playback the HR.

there's just a single cross clip on top
Thanks! Looks like the problem is a cracked piezo disk (the round disk attached to the inside of the rear case cover) and I'll have to get it replaced.
