    Last weekend, I went to Eugene, Oregon to see the Prefontaine Classic.
    It was simply amazing - seeing the likes of Mottram, Webb, Powell,
    Wariner, Lagat, Limo, Komen, Mutola, etc. in real life action is
    something quite different than watching them on TV. Had a great time.

    We were lucky that the weather held up and there was no rain until the
    very end when it started pouring furiously. Eugene itself is a great
    city - just perfect for running.

    I saw some on TV and some more on the net. The 800 in particular:

    was not only a terrific race, as you say on your blog, but a little
    bit reminiscent of my favorite half mile, the 72 Olympic final:


    Not a carbon copy, but in each you had the Yank and the Soviet
    dramatically sitting (at or near the back) and kicking. Great stuff.

    jobs - nice Blog and report. And some good photos.

    I was in Melbourne last year at the Commonwealth Games and saw
    Mottram run the 5000m. You can't compare the atmosphere of a full
    crowd and a live race to what you see on TV/ Internet.

    before in real life. It was quite an experience.

    Yep, I remember this one. IIRC, someone on r.r. has posted it here

    Mottram is quite amazing, and he knows how to put on a show. 🙂 Good for
    racing and running in general. The crowd was totally into it and that
    makes a big difference too. Everyone would be up on their feet for the
    last lap of pretty much every race.
