Yes, yesterday I won the big prize money in my age group. I had a good 7 minutes over my nearest
competitor. Big, in this case, was $2.
This was at a stupid little 10 mile race* yesterday. I ran my plan -- hold semi-conservative
marathon pace through the whole route and learn how it feels so that I can reproduce it on race
day. I spent the last mile encouraging a woman to pass me, as I was going for pace rather than
place. She didn't, but thanked me for providing a target the last couple miles of the race.
Today, again as part of the training plan, I went out for another 10 mile run. This time it was
LSD pace. While I was pretty much ok, I definitely felt it when I reached the hill on the 8th
mile, and the uphill side of rolling on the rest of the route. Still, it went pretty well and I'm
just pretty fatigued. No injuries or serious complaints from body parts. My first time with back
to back 10 milers. i think my longest double previously was 10k.
*The name of the race really is the Stupid Little 10 miler. Being a stupid race, however, the big
prize money in age groups went for last place, not first. I was 3rd of the 3 in my age group.
