I recently bought some new megarange 7speed cogs and a megarange rear derailleur, the problem i'm having is that even with the b-tension adjustment screw tightened as much as possible the derailleur still cannot clear the largest sprocket.

Any suggestions would be great
Get a longer screw. (Or, try reversing the one you have now; sometimes the head adds enough length to solve problem.)

I beg to differ. The chain won't necessarily go slack if it is one or two links too long. Before messing with anything, check the chain length. Sheldon has good info on setting up chain length.
app is connected to a mob mindreader? local or from boston? local mindreaders are actively involved in narcotics smuggling and the addiction of young people to narcotics for the purpose of enslavement to the mob in prostitution. i participate in the flow as a predictor-for Katrina-NO as an example. this drives the local mob people, who read but are fundementally retarded, crazier.

so i was about to tell this joke
a shade tree 102 joke!
two young men with bandaged crotches are laying on beds in a hospital ward. doctor comes in and sez to one- "your circumcision is perfect!!" and the other guy leans up starTled and shouts "that's the word I was thinking about!!"
the genesis for this joke is lost in my time it might be about elenor roosevelt or something to do with the DC YMCA?

"App" wrote: See, I knew it. gene's on board. What do you have to say to that, Leo ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Sometimes I'm wrong when I think I'm wrong. So let's look at the facts: The OP wrote, "Hello,I recently bought some new megarange 7speed cogs and a megarange rear derailleur, the problem i'm having is that even with the b-tension adjustment screw tightened as much as possible the derailleur still cannot clear the largest sprocket." He doesn't mention buying a new chain, so I think we can assume that he is using the old one, which presumably was okay with the old setup. Now, tell me how putting in a mega-low cog and a dreaileur with a longer arm would make the chain too long. And then, tell me also how too long a chain would cause the deraileur to rub the side of the lowest cog.
<snippage of Leo's concerns regarding my diagnosis>
Let's wait and see what Phil says about the resolution of his problem. BTW, having gene support my diagnosis is not a plus in my book, hence, the winky face.
You already made assumptions that weren't in his posting, i.e., that his new der has a longer cage than his old, that the new cogset is any different from the old one, etc....
the pre post news is a repeat problem: app falls into the category, and as you 'have' seen, its a serious problem
so, don't cut the chain until the problem is thorowlee examined, in this case, ONE of the other variable (without permanent disfiguration)connections is the cable WHICH HAS A CABLE ADJUSTER!
so you have a roblem. write down each connection to the problem, and the connnections to the direct connection. which are variable: a. by design b. thru wear c. falling out of adjustment d. snafu to establish a list-examining the mechanism by sight sound and smell, whatever is app, upside down ect. wiggle jiggle pull and bash then begin solving the problem.

(clip) Let the correct diagnosis "win"! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Thanks for clarifying your "winky face." I knew something was going on there, but I didn't quite understand. As far as assumptions are concerned, I think my only one is that he is using the original chain. As far as the megarange cogset and deraileur are concerned--"Megarange" refers to an ultralarge bottom gear. The Megarange deraileur would accordingly have to have a longer arm, since it takes more chain to wrap around the Megarange cog. That is why I doubt that the chain is too long. It takes MORE chain, not less, to operate with the new setup he installed.
Whoever "wins" this debate get to say "I toldya so," in this public forum. ;-)
Whoever "wins" this debate get to say "I didn't screw myself by cutting the chain caws 3 posters knee jerked (off dense wood) and said so" sheeet getting a laugh here is ruff.
the answers to many question posts lie not in an immediate solution(presently an endemic word useage)-who's there? who's asking and framing the problem? the guy who's not able to figure it out. the solution lies in laying out an approach to resolving the problem. unless you're operating on the LBS Golden Sludge level where the rotoflex immediately gives the solution to "how do I hook up a schwinn roller brake to the 10 speed deore grips and generate power for the Swiis headlamp".

here's another one-it doesn't work so the manufacturer afterspending 7 million developing the gizmo screwed the porkcess good and what we really need here as a longer screw or longer boats...
I did install a new chain at the same time but don't think that is the problem as I did the no derailleur largest chainring and largest sprocket add 2 links method. And I don't think I could shorten it anymore because theres hardly any room for the rear derailleur to move when on the largest chainring and sprocket.
I would like to try using a longer screw however so far I haven't been able to find one with the same thread
Thankyou for all your responses!

App thinks your chain is too LONG, not short. (Of course, it's a too /short/ chain that /could/ cause your symptom, but not in this case with the changes you made.)

Try what I suggested in the very first reply: REVERSE it (screw it in from the other side).
