Tomorrow Rob will go to the U for something and will bring a gift bag
for the Admin there who is so helpful to him. In preparation for that
bag and three others tomorrow and four more by Friday, I baked 8 loaves
of bread tonight and made another batch of toffee. I was going to do
another batch of mixed nut brittle tonight but got a reprieve -- there
will be time enough for me to do it in the morning. Last night I made
some apricot-peach jam for the bags, too -- most everything I made
during the summer is gone.

Story: Today was the day to meet Favorite Niece Sandra for lunch and our
gift exchange. She makes spiced nuts for Uncle Rob, ethereal divinity
for me, and some other things. I gave her a very large decorative
container -- think oval copper washtub, but about 20" long/wide and 12"
high and a seasonal motif on the exterior -- FULL of food gifts.
Penzeys. Soup Mix. Homemade jams. Pasta. Nut brittle. Coffee. Et
cetera, et cetera, et CETera. Shrink-wrapped.
I picked her up at the hospital and she gets in the car and says, "You
won't believe this!" She forgot my gift at home and didn't remember it
AT ALL until leaving her OFFICE -- 'where's my bag for Auntie Barb?"
She liketa died!
She was just amazed by all the stuff because I did a fab job packaging
it. That's not my strong suit but this looked enough like a
commercially purchased item that the restaurant owner came over and
asked where I'd gotten it. I gave him my card. If there's a way to
make a buck, I'll find it.

I'll become a critic - Rob's been calling me one for years!)
