card like that, maybe only 12-13. If you save at top jpeg quality
you'll only get around 25. I'd recommend getting at least a 256 meg
card.

No, not many at all... The last two weeks I was away up in Scotland
the Lake District, and once I'd filled up the 1 Gb CF card (shooting
in RAW) I had to start using my collection of 16 older 32Mb CF cards.
Each 32Mb CF card could only hold 3 RAW shots - not being an expert on
the subject, I'd presume, therefore, that a 64Mb card will only hold 6
or 7 RAW images. I was shooting film *and* digital, and thankfully I
didn't run out of film, having taken 10+ rolls of Velvia.

I'm with Paul on that one... Get the largest you can, but look out for
prices because it can get expensive... For top quality pics on a 32Mb stick
on a another Sony, a colleague only gets about 8 shots, but does get up
between about 40 on medium quality. Don't stick with just Sony memory
though, if you do go for it. ebuyer.com is selling Sandisk memory much
cheaper, just as reliable and is very popular... £27 for 128Mb

Hmm. Mebbe. I guess people have different experiences and I wouldn't like to
take anything away... My (and my colleagues'😉 have been okay with ebuyer,
but... Bottom line remains the same, to shop around and see what you can
find...

They are only £17.49 for 256mb SD memory cards at www.7dayshop.com at
the moment. This Guernsy Island shop is much cheaper than any UK shop
and I have have used them a few times and can recommend them for quick
turn round etc. (no connection with them)

And if you intend to take this on holiday (and not take a laptop) you will
probably need a 1 meg card or two! These seem expensive but then you don't
have to worry about the cost of film!

camera, but are prone to corruption in my PDA. I guess this is not
uncommon, because shops used to say "ok" when I asked if I could try
before buying, but now say "if you open the plastic packaging we can't
refund".

However *some* cards say "guaranteed to work in everything", and those
always in my experience do.

Sandisk as I recall. It's the one in Harrogate, have no idea if it's a
company wide thing. I forgot to look in the Leeds one when I woz grocery
shopping this evening.
