I would disagree. Gluttony, as laid out in the old Testament, is about
eating more than your fair share. It is tied hand-in-hand with waste.

    Ron Ritzman said:

And of course you believe that "2 pounds" is a "fair share".

It's enough to live on. Take what you need, all of what you need but
    no more.

    Quoted message said:

So for you it is at least partially a moral/religious issue, not just
    a health issue.

    Sure is.

    Quoted message said:

This might partially explain some of the animosity
between you, Dr. Chung, and the "peanut gallery".

    Some of it.

    Quoted message said:

    They're concerned
primarily with weight loss and diabetes control.

Yes and some see the issue of gluttony.

    Quoted message said:

    To you, it's
partially a philosophical issue of how much food you believe God wants
us to eat on any given day.

Not stuck on a given day as much as whether or not there are repeated
    days of overconsumption.

    Quoted message said:

    Anybody for alt.religion.2pd?

    Only if you moderate it.

    Quoted message said:

As far as the "waste" issue is concerned, now of days, "waste" is not
what we are eating but what we are throwing away.

Gluttony is about consumption. Making too much food, knowingly and
    repeatedly, is wasteful.

    Quoted message said:

    You could feed a

    Yes, perhaps

    Quoted message said:

    Of
course you could argue that we are producing too much.

Yes, the US does for its own use on most products.

    What does it
take, about 8 pounds of grain to grow 1 pound of cow?

Fat cows are fine; fat (fe)males are not.

What I perceive here on ASD is that we leave the FA issues to others.
Here we have opted for some sort of plan or change in our lives via
diet. The FAQs decree it's not always about weight LOSS.

Since it's no party I can't swear it's the official party line. And
BTW not all of us are of the same religious faith and religion is not a
topic for ASD. Prayer in itself is a general issue.

    I pray you will understand.

If FA is fat acceptance, why would you not want to discuss accepting
fat people and having fat people accept themselves? They are
unhealthy, sure, but they are not cast outs. They are simply fat and
discussing being fat, or FA, would be a perfect thing to do in a diet
group since most people who come to these groups are fat.
