that is weird, i took the anglegrinder, electric knife thing and sander
to my Luna this afternoon purely out of boredom. only got half of it
done then boredom overcome once more and i went of to find something
else to do.

Why not do half the tire bald, and leave half knobby? Then mount the
tire according to what foot forward you use, and what surface you're
on. Set it up with the desired tread on the bottom half. Deflate the
tire, spin it 180, and now you got 2 tires in one. 😎

lol that wouldn't work, exept for pirrouettes, jumps, ect.....the
knobbly part would be pretty much useless ( you know how you continue
to roll the tire as you ride??? :p )

does the tire need to be mounted on a rim and tube and everything?
Because I'm doing it with just the tire and its taking soo long mainly
because it keeps flexing. Also what kind of sand paper is best?

I did mine on the uni, all pumped up... I think it might be easier that
way, tho I only tried that way so I cant really tell you.

If you want to do a nice sanding job use an orbital sander with like a
40-60 grit(to get the big bumps), then finish with 80-120 to smooth it
all out.

You def want to sand it on the rim with air.

I did it with the tire on the wheel. The tire w/o the wheel is going to
be hard and long, I recommand putting it on a rim a least.

Oscilating is pretty similar to random orbit I think, and my random
orbit sander didn't worked. I used some sand paper that was on it.

Orbital sander worked perfect for me... Not as well as sanding wood,
but worked fine..... although I do have years of house painting
experience. The trick is to hit one bump then hit the next before the
first is done. When you allow the rubber to cool a bit it will sand
better. Keep going around until your bumps are gone.
