Recky on the Wrekin

Guys

Geoff, Magic and myself are hoping to walk the Wrekin this Sunday (after
seeing the wonderful inversion photos from Graham) and before I sit down and
plan a route I was wondering if any of you wonderful fellow walkers have a
favourite circular route of this area that takes in the summit that you'd be
kind enough to share. The harder the better......

You want to go round the Wrekin? Well I've been round the Wrekin all
over the place - Dartmoor, South Downs, Pennines, Lakes, Scotland and
especially when crossing farmland. Often not by choice.

But sorry I'm going round the Wrekin a bit myself now. Sorry, I've never
actually done a circular route round the hill, so can't help!!

(If you think I've gone barking mad - its my Brummie upbringing coming
out - round the Wrekin in the Midlands means 'going the long way' or
'not explaining something clearly and directly'!)

if you go up the main path when it takes a sharp rt turn you can go straight
on down a smaller path this goes all around the wrekin or when you get to
the far side there is a path that goes to the summit then you keep on the
main path and it bring you back to where you started
ps if you get lost don't blame me

When I was a young Air Cadet, we did a figure-of-eight route that
included the Wrekin. Four groups started from the middle of the 8, each
heading off in a different direction. This meant that two groups went up
the easy way and came down the hard way (NE to SW). I was in one of the
other groups. I've blocked out most of the details, but I do remember
climbing up on all fours at one point.

I know this doesn't help, but it all came flooding back to me when I saw
"Wrekin".

Apparently there is a local phrase in the W. Mids "All around the Wrekin"
meaning that it is a long way (as in "we went all round the houses"😉, so
maybe you could verfiy whether it is true or not?
