I still have my old Cinelli leather 'hairnet' helmet. It's still in good condition too. I should sell it to some hipster/fixie dude for about $150 under the pretense it'll make him look cooler...

You can probably find one on eBay, but why would you want it? Hairnets offer no crash or impact protection at all. Wearing a cloth diaper on your head would likely protect you more.

they must provide some protection riders wore them ,interest is just for fun and something different dont have an old bike but like the look of the older bikes and the skinny frames etc .....

And players in American football used to wear leather helmets. Motorcycle grand prix riders used to only wear a pudding cap. The only think a leather hairnet might do is protect the top of your skull from road rash, and I doubt it will even do that. There's nothing in a hairnet that offers any impact protection.

I keep threatening to show up for our shop's group ride in my hairnet with a cotton cap pulled over it, Phil Anderson style. But I'd probably get fired.

The only time I hit my head in a fall (in 38 years of riding), I was wearing one of these. I had a small concussion

Quite right. I've been wearing hard helmets since 1993, but I really didn't start enjoying it until I got a Bell Alchera.

Hsard shells are finally more comfortable and sexier (arguably) than a hairnet. Those Bell Bikers, Skidlids, and redeployed hockey helmets were pretty miserable.

how much ?plus post to ireland ,just the whole nostalgia thing its like old moter bikes ,norton ,bsa etc ...these are beutifull machines youl have to agree ....would probally never wear it as the posts on the forom sugests but would like to have one anyway
