Yes I bought one - was trying to get a cheaper model switch but they were out
of stock and I got a pretty good discount on the Nemesis. The breaks are
truely all weather and it is a great commuting bike. Looks good and I do get
comments like "cool bike mate" although also looks nickable so get a good lock.

The only problem I've had has been that the gears have needed adjusting
several times...when I bought it I found the handlebars too low so I got a riser
bar fitted but now I am used to it I think the original bar would've been fine.

Halfords are currently selling off the last of their Carrera Subway 8s -
similar brakes and gearing - on special offer, and they do have mudguard
bolt holes. I wouldn't normally recommend Halfords bikes but a couple of
regulars on this group have bought these and liked them.

Thanks for that Usual. When you say the gears needed adjusting was that
a LBS job or so simple that even I could tackle it? 🙂 Do you have
mudgaurds on it (for commuting) or do you get changed/showered at your
destination?

My wife has had one for four or five months. It's a cracking bike, much nice than the Halfords one - just better finished with neater components.

There are lugs at the rear to mount a rack, I guess they would do mudguards but I'm not familiar with MTB style guards so don;t really know. Up front, the fork has a brake hole in the centre but there are no lugs near the hub to fix into. It could really use 'guards. I rode it to work once, along a tow-path and wow was I dirty!

We got fifty quid off ours, making it £400 which seems reasonable without being a startling buy-it bargain.

We had a bit of fuss with the hub gear, the shop were in the dark a bit really but a glance at Sheldon soon sorted it out.

The front roller brake would be better as v-brakes IMHO, and maybe a hub dynamo for lights then it would be a superb cross-town commuter.
It ride really nice.

As for mudgauards, I fitted them but the front disc mount on the fork
gets in the way of the mudguard strut on the LH side. All I did was
thread a long setscrew into the fork and mount the strut onto that, so
the strut is spaced off the fork by about an inch. All the rest was
plain sailing.

Yes it's a LBS job which they do for free as it's still under warranty, however
it does not seem too complicated and you can do it yourself.

I fitted a set of SKS beavertail mudguards. You can get them from wiggle. There
are holes for a rack which I will probably get when I can be bothered..
