"RARE vintage Peugeot......" Turns out to be a beat up U0-8 from the early 1970s with a $200 asking price. U0-8s were the most common bikes imported during the Bike Boom.
Most of these kind of auctions are being run by the "pack and ship" operators. A friend of mine bought a brand new mid 1980s Centurion top end bike from one of these sellers. It took over a month to ship and the ham handed @%$#&* packed the bike in bubble wrap and Styrofoam peanuts. The Stupid seller used a crowbar to pull off the crankarms. He received the bike all dinged up from the wheels and components rolling around in the box.
The other annoyance are the fools who overprice their "Buy It Now". There is currently and early 1970s Motobecane Grand Record that been turned into a fixie, the seller is asking $1500 "Buy It Now".
There appears to be a "slow race" among bidders in a price war at $.25 a bid for this bike. ;-)
