Riding with the wife.

Give your wife congratulations for me! 18 miles is a stinkin' LOT. I'm still trying to make it up to my first 10-miler; I'm at 9 now, so if it ever stops raining, I'll get there soon.

Slim,

Kimber is sun sensitive so she can only ride when it is cool or dark, because of the long sleeves and
pants she over heats quickly. She is very fit, gym a couple times a week. And at 6'3" and about 135lbs
she is a fair bike rider.

Sharon does 22 miles, no more, no less. We don't stop and pet the puppies but we have to stop on every bridge that has water flowing under it and watch for a couple of minutes. She loves trails that follow rivers, especially where there is a good view of the water. Ice cream after the ride is her reward for riding. Usually it is a single scoop cone but we splurged last week and each had a sundae. Average speed with her is around 10 MPH. She is pretty healthy too, 5'3", 105 lbs from spending 3 - 4 days in the gym. She would like to get out and ride more often but doesn't feel safe unless I'm with her.

She would be in hog heaven here, the city trails follow the storm drain channel. There are several lakes, ponds.
and a wet land ride over wooden bridges.

There is water there, you just can't see it in the pictures.

trail early in the day.

How did I miss this post with those gorgeous pictures??? Must have been during my stay-in-bed bronchitis days. Anyway, I love 'em! I especially like the middle one with the bird about to land on the sidewalk. I would love riding there!

Funny , my wife got a bike when she retired a Fuji 7 spd fat tire comfy bike. and she would drag me and my Huffy along. She would do 10 miles and I would do about 3, Then one day she said maybe if you had a good bike you could ride with me. Well 4 bikes later I do 25 miles a day and have ridden 62 miles in a day and the wife just barly rides. I go out and ride 20 miles or so , then come home and get her, and we ride what ever she feels like doing. I would like her to ride more but she goes to the gym 3 days, and has so much outher stuff going on she has no time to ride much.

Snapping turtles LMAO. A few months ago I was sitting on the steps in my garage putting my cycling shoes on when low and behold a 15" snapping turtle began hissing at me. I had to retreat up the steps and jump off the back side of the stair case so I could come around the back side of the turtle. I tried to grab him by the tail so I could put him in the back of my truck. He had a better idea and tried to retreat by going through my bike. His head and one front leg had already made it into the front wheel of my bike. I was home alone with no help. I did not want to hurt the turtle or damage my bike. Luckily a neighbor from across the road came over and helped me out. We put the turtle in the back of my truck and released at the swamp down the road. Well anyways my story has nothing to do about riding with the wife but it does about snapping turtles.

Your story about snapping turtles took me wayyyy back to my childhood. A friend of my Dad's brought a HUGE snapping turtle over so we could see it. He had the thing in the back of his truck. It had latched onto some thick branch he had, and he just picked it up by the branch, and the turtle never let go no longer how hard he shook it to try to get it off. It was hissing and growling like a cat!!! Nasty-looking thing; I wanted no part of it at the same time I was mesmerized by it, lol. I've been leery of them ever since, cuz my mama didn't raise no dummies.

I don't know how big that one was that I saw. It looked HUGE, but then of course I was a little kid so it's relative. I do know that it snapped a broomstick in half that he first tried to pick it up with! I think I could have ridden that thing. <Sierra shivers.> N-A-S-T-Y.

My fiancée and I just did 40m at the silver comet trail the other day, thought it was a slow start. she has only been on a road bike 4 or 5 times and it's still getting comfortable with the Bike. I feel pretty happy about it since my goal is to do around 60
