    Yep, I took a Sharpie today to the sidewall of my DX rim, I hate silver,
    makes parts look cheap and ugly.

    Tomorrow if I don't just sit around all day, I'm going to shorten the
    legs on the frame, I hate the tire clearance, it's giving me major
    problems learning to wheel walk.

    Will the sharpie ink stay there long? I seem to recall doing something
    similar, (yes...some switches in my truck at work that kept losing
    their finish), and the sharpie ink wears off really fast. I guess as
    long as nothing touches the rim it might last a while, I'll be
    interested to find out what happens with your "rimjob".

    hey, get some clear spraypaint and throw a few thin layers over it, it
    should last a while.
    you can just spin the wheel, hold it steady, and spray as it goes
    around.

    I was kidding.

    I hated the chrome looking machined sidewall, that's why I quickly went
    over it with a Sharpie... I was originally intending to use model
    paint, and just go over it in black.

    i sharpie parts on my unicycle just not parts that big..
    things like the ends of my spokes, the bearing cap scres, the pedal
    bolt, and on my street cranks i painted them sparkly purple with nail
    polish and it came out great!

    Your rim looks cool though, but to bad the finish wears off easy.
