ROL Wheels

I've been using Rol SL28 wheels on my race bike(Trek 2100) for crits and I think they are great for the price. They are stiffer and lighter than Bontrager Race Lites on my training bike(Madone 5.2). So for beater wheels or race wheels I think you can't go wrong.

Roadbikereviews.com had some outstanding reviews of these wheels. Since he is closing out last year's model for $199, I ordered a set. I am looking forward to their arrival.

Here in Denver, I run into a few cyclists on them and they all seem to be very happy with them. The graphics look very nice on them. I'm thinking about picking up a set to try them out.

I just ran down to the Rol wheels distruibter and picked up a set of SL28's; great they are local to me and they were a please to work with!. Just mounted them with an American Classic Campy conversion casette on my Look 555 and off for a test run! The wheels really look sharp, great bladed spokes. The graphics are "classic" and not over stated. Nice pacjaging, included rim tape and two skewers I don't have a scale to weigh them; they feel light. More to write after I get back.

Picked up the wheels and did a quick 40 mile run. Overall, the wheel while not the lightest, is "at least" the equal to the Mavic Kysirum Elite, or better, at a much better price. When I called, I spoke with the owner and he had a set of SL28's boxed and ready for me to pick up. A quick 5 minuite drive from my house to their location and they were ready! It was almost like dealing with the LBS's of olden times; fast responsive friendly service. The packaging, for shipping is well though out. The wheels came with two skewers, three extra bladed spokes, and rim strips.

Now I'm itching to check out their Carbon Tubulars after a debacle with FSA RD-488 tubulars.

How much did you pay for the coversion cassette?

I got it locally for around $90.00 at Excel Sports Boulder; see excelsports.comexcelsports.comOpen ↗ . I've seen them at Glory Cycles at glorycycles.com10speedcamca.htmlOpen ↗ . Its shifts really smooth with my Record grouppo. I have one other road bike with [censored] for winter use. I picked up the Rol's to replace a tired set of Mavic Open Pros for training and to swap. Really pleased with the Rols's. Don't like to train on my Campy Eurus wheels.

Cool. I think I might go with the Race version for 550. Currently I'm using mavic cosmos and saving up for a 'race' wheel set. The mavic's are fine for training, but a bit heavy otherwise. Thanks for the help.
