Then my batteries died, so no pictures from the best part
of the ride: the big singletrack descent. There had been
some rerouting since the last time I was here and it
eliminated some fun technical stuff, but I can understand
why it was done. The new parts aren't bad at all, but need
a little time to be as nice as some of the older sections
that were some of the most buff and fast trail anywhere.

Saturday I went out to Hartman's with a good friend who
about to become a dad. We had a nice little ride, but he
was a little distracted to be riding some of the more
technical moves. I was feeling good and he snapped this
one of me on something called Horseshoe (the trail, not
the move). It's a fun, steep, but pretty smooth granite
slab with great traction.

Very nice! I like the hummingbird. I have a feeder in my
yard. They are the coolest things to watch. The ones here in
NJ are smaller and very colorful. Some are so small they
look like bugs.

This ride would be pretty tough on an SS. The climb is long
and steep in parts. The DH is fast and makes good use of a
modern FS bike. I've seen it done, but that only reinforced
my view that it's a better match for FS and gears.

Yummm, sheep.... Had lamb for lunch today and this
reminded me of how tasty they are. My wife did love that
picture. She's a Yarnaholic and loves sheep of all type
(it's only fur deep). I didn't tell her about the car (or
lunch) though.

Lamb is delicious (my family are Aussies so lamb is a
traditional dish). Never had bighorn though I bet the
domestic ones are more tender and juicy. I'm also pretty
sure it's against the law to harvest the young ones.

It's the Stealth Bomber! I had a fire engine red S-Works
hardtail before this one. Great bike, but the paint job was
so obnoxious I was almost embarrassed of it. I much prefer
the flat black finish, even if it isn't quite as fast (I
figure the jersey helps overcome that somewhat). The way I
see it I'm obnoxious enough on my own and I need a muted
bike to help keep that balance in check.

I'd definitely need to run a larger cog for that ride on the
SS. I've ridden it on a hardtail before and it was ok, but
Matt is right. The FS is a hoot there.
