The Modjeska Grade is the paved road that runs from Santiago Canyon
Road over the ridge and down into Modjeska Canyon and is a common
misnomer for the Santiago Truck Trail. The Santiago Truck Trail is
what runs up to Old Camp.

If you don't like poison oak, you may want to skip Joplin because there
is a lot of it up there. Luckily, I'm immune to it.

Thanks for the correction, I've been calling it the wrong name for a few
years....
Poison oak doesn't bother me, a good shower and most of it's gone. Last time
I had it was when i fell into a large bush and flailed around to get out.
This is just part of OC riding...

I've been running around up in the Santa Anas most of my life, even on
visits when I lived elsewhere. Stuff like that misnomer gets passed on
by people who just don't know.

Poison Oak part of California riding at lower elevations in non-desert
locations. The Umpqua River Trail in Oregon is notorious for it. Some
people get it worse than others do. I can trample around in it all day
and not a spot. A friend I grew up with would break out if someone
even mentioned it.

PO doesn't bother me much but PI will inflict serious rash so the chemicals
must be different...???

I was immune to PI all my life up until last year. I got my first case of PI
all up my left arm. Don't ever say that you are "immune" to it. I once had
the same thought...

Jim gets a bad case of PI nearly every (and sometimes a couple times a
year). It gets bad around here on some trails that they are not even
rideable because of the amount PI growth.

Growing up in North Carolina, I would go through the stuff all the time
with never a worry. Then about two years ago I got a good case of the
stuff after trampling through a bunch of it with already scraped up
legs. I do not know if oil contacting a wound was the trigger, but
ever since then I am sensitive to the stuff. Ivy Block before, Tecnu
after, and at the first sign of any itching I use Zenfal.

I cleaned out the yard this weekend and the paranoia was there...

I never got PI growing up in Michigan and even pulling it out of our
yard with bare hands.

Then I went on a few Rides in CA a few years ago and must have come in
contact with some PO. My skin basically melted. Very unpleasant. You
have been warned.
