Now that the light is starting to fade by 7:30 pm (earlier in the deep woods), time to ride under
the lights again on our evening group rides. Tonight: full orange harvest moon, Mars shining like a
scarlet beacon, 3 old farts flying through the woods in the dark with halogen headlights blazing.
Hate to coin a cliche, but it doesn't get any better...

I was the only old fart on our 3-man HID-lit ride thru the woods tonight -- temps were perfect, and
gotta love that big ol' moon...Bill "forgot to check out Mars, however" S.

We did a night ride last night, the moon was so bright it lit up the trail and kept our
headlight/bar light usage minimal.- CA-G

Lights are cheaper.
My eyes are not so good. One in particular. It's blurry no matter what. The eye doctors referred me
to a specialist right before I was laid off, and lost my insurance. I can drive at night, but if it
starts to rain, it gets damn tough to see with all the extra glare from the wet roads. At least I
can see well enough to do whatever it is I want during the daylight hours, like ride.. -

that come on with high beam. 360 watts should be enough to see with .

That would be fine in Montana. Here, it could land me in jail. -

As long as the spots are hard-wired into the high beam circuit (with the

switch, fuse, relay, etc.) then the minute you drop to low beam, they disappear.
Those would look really cool on the roof of my Grand Am. 🙂Quoted message said:
The higher wattage low beams are still conventional bulbs, and as such are probably perceptually
dimmer than the blue/green [censored] most folks seem to

Are these headlights, or the newer headlight bulbs?
