Some would say run out and back on the route of the city's big 10K event (starts at Jackson Square
in the French Quarter and goes to Audubon Park, then return to start for a 12 mile loop) but
footing, traffic and personal security are not the greatest everywhere on that route....so.....
I would head out to the Lakeshore Drive area (along the shore of Lake Pontchartrain), about a 10 to
15 minute drive/ride from the Superdome if traffic is light. Go to the western end of Lakeshore
Drive where it meets the end of Pontchartrain Blvd. There's a small shopping center there with a
Walgreen's on one end and an outstanding fitness club (Franco's) a couple of doors down--the $15
guest fee would be worth it after a 12 miler for the showers and outstanding jacuzzi, in my opinion.
Just to the left of Walgreen's is the beginning of Lakeshore Drive and accompanying levees, public
park and sidewalk system that extends five miles to the east, where it merges with other roadways.
Mile one marker: the large circular Mardi Gras Fountain; mile two: just before the only real "hill,"
a bridge over Bayou St. John; mile 3 is just past a newly constructed flat bridge at the end of a
block of palatial houses; mile 4 is 100 yards past the circle at Elysian Fields Blvd. You'll know
you are near the end of Lakeshore Drive when you pass the spot where Franklin Avenue ends at
Lakeshore Drive. Run another half mile roughly and you'll come to a parking lot and a public shelter
with restrooms and water fountains. That's the five-mile point (if you reach military reserve
facilities you went too far). At the shelter, turn around and run back to the start and you've done
10 miles. As you return to the starting point next to Walgreen's, you'll be running south on
Pontchartrain Blvd. Continue past your starting point and run straight (there's a huge grassy median
in the middle of the Blvd., about 50 yards wide) until you reach the traffic light at Harrison
Avenue (1 mile) then turn around and return one more time to the origin point. That's 12 miles.
Enjoy. I envy you running on my old flatland training loop.

Yeah, six miles north, six miles south. What a dumbass question.
But since it was New Orleans. I did not know if I needed to flash everyone as I was running to
collect beads or not

Chris. Thank you.

Another reason I directed you to run mostly on the Lakefront is that you'll pass fewer New Orleans
bars and restaurants out there and therefore will have a much better chance of completing your
run. ;-) cs
I suggest shoes which repel urine and vomit.
You can run about 1.5 miles on the river before the warehouses block your way. I suggest running up
the Esplanade to City Park and Lake Ponchatrain and back.
Check this out....try this at home. Take the long hollow end of a shotgun, put in your mouth and
pull the trigger. What happens next is funny. Make sure you have some one take pictures so I can
post all eight pieces of your skull all over the internet.
When you kill yourself I will be the first to call your family to tell them how happy I am.
