saddle recomendation please

Get your [censored] measured. Specialized dealers should have a bit of foam to
sit on. They'll be two dimples made by the sit bones. The position of
these is measured off the scale and you can be matched up with a saddle
that'll let the sit bones take the weight instead of the perineum/whatever.

With low handlebars I've found that a V in the saddle helps when I'm down
of the drops too. YMMV.

We can't recommend particular saddles as it all depends on _you_. Brooks
will probably turn up, but if they're too narrow they'll never be comfy.

I can no more recommend a saddle than tell you which shoes to wear.

Fit is everything.

One which fits /you/. Different people are different, and, in particular,
have different widths across the ischeal tuberosities ('sit bones'😉. My
personal favourites are the Selle Italia SLR (very light but
nevertheless very comfortable /for/ /me/) and the Brooks Professional
(also very comfortable /for/ /me/ but not light).

There's no substitute for buying three saddles of varying shape and
hardness, doing a long, long ride on each and then eBaying the two least
comfortable. It's hard to predict which will win, which is why my best
touring bike has a saddle from a £250 Fuji track bike and the Brooks
Swift is gathering dust in the garage.

Having said that, if you're prepared to suffer to look cool, you can
also ride 90 miles on a Selle Italia SLR. I do ;-)

As others have said, saddles are a very individual thing as er all have
slightly different rear ends. What is the height of comfort for one is
literally a PITA to another. No easy ansers, I'm afraid - you have to find
one to fit *you*

They are fine saddles and not expensive. You dont need to do anything
to prolong its life. They last for ages.

I have three, the oldest is about 12 years old and is in daily use. I
actually have four, one is not yet fitted. No special care needed, I
try to prevent them getting we but thats more so I don't have sit on a
wet saddle.

I bought my first SLR because I wanted to save 500 grammes on the weight
of my road bike, and was prepared to suffer some discomfort to do so.
I've bought another for my mountain bike because I found the first was
all day, audax-distance comfortable, and I expect in due course to buy a
third for my winter bike (actually I'll probably buy the SLR XC with the
kevlar reinforcement at the back, put that on the mountain bike, and put
the 135 gramme SLR that's on the mountain bike onto my winter bike).

Yes, the SLR does look as if it's going to be fiendishly uncomfortable,
but if it fits you it's not - I'm /very/ happy with mine. And the fact
that there are now so many variants available suggests that other people
agree.

I hate them. Just goes to show, everyones bum is different. They looks
the DBs though.
