At this price the rear suspension won't be good enough to give you any
benefit at all off road, and you can do everything you want without
it, with less effort cause the bike's lighter.

Second that. At this price or even double it rear sus would be horrible.
In fact if they had a rigid I would go for that. Given whats on the page
the Traverse looks a good bet. Just buy the right size 🙂

I wouldn't recommend a full suspension bike at that price level, the
Saracen Traverse looks good, although a little above your budget.

Or there is the Claud Butler Trail Ridge at £179.99

These are complete rubbish. You won't get anything with suspension much
under £250 which isn't complete rubbish, and you won't get anything
with full suspension much under £1,000 which isn't complete rubbish.
The Vice is apparently less bad than the Savage but neither of them is
value for money.

For £200 you can get a pretty reasonable second hand bike; and at this
time of year you can probably get a reasonable rigid (i.e. no
suspension) bike, because there are end of season sales on.

forks so robably a good bit lighter for £169.99 on the same page. A
much better bike than the Saracens.

Morning had broken. I found a rather battered tube of Araldite
resin in the bottom of the toolbag.

what you mean about dual suspension and cheap bikes. It's the same as
everything in this world I guess.

Apart from the fact that you won't get a free 3 week and 3 month service /
tune up like you would if you bought from a bricks and mortar bike shop....
Which IMHO is very worthwhile.
