A safety issue I never thought about.

About a block in front of me a young boy, teen, was ripping down the sidewalk on one of
the trick bikes, foot pegs on the front and back, low slung thing.

He ran over a piece of cardboard, foot by foot and half or so and went flying into a street
sign. Seems he hit his brakes and the tire stopped but the cardboard kept going.

Had a nasty cut on his head, no helmet, some road rash on his hands, elbow and
knees. Luckily no cars were coming as he ended up in the street and the bike in
the middle of an intersection.

Less than a block from the fire station so I just went like hell and got them there
in just a couple minutes. Two of the firemen ran down there and the truck followed
in a minute or so. I did check him quickly before going for help. A couple cars had
stopped as well when I got back to him. They took him to the hospital. I haven't
checked to see how he is doing.

This time of year in the Northern Hemisphere, the leaves on the ground act just like the cardboard, especially when they are damp.

I avoid leaves, you never know what is under them??

Do not go in harms way if there is a route around it!
