  1. I have seen reference to a VeloParts "Shimagnolo" adapter that
allows the use of Campy Ergo 9 shifters with a Shimano 9 derailleur
    and cassette.

Google didn't reveal any store that sells it. Anyone have a source
    for this part?

    Thanks.

Why not just use C10 shifters and rear derailleur with S9 cassettes? Worked for
    me!

I have read many posts suggesting this. Does it really work well? I have
an all Shimano Dura-Ace 9 speed setup but the brifters make my hands go numb
and would like to get the Campy ones. If I get the 10 sp. Chorus or Centaur
shifters and rear derailleur, and keep the Shimano cassette, will the thing
really shift well and stay in adjustment? I would hate to but it only to
find that it works but not really well. Anyone know if the Chorus, with
it's BB system, are worth the money over the Centaur with bushings?

I got one through Erickson Cycles (though that was a couple of years ago):

I emailed VeloParts about the adaptor's availability and got this reply:

    Current info on adapters
VeloParts makes an adapter which allows you to use Ergo shifters with a
Shimano rear derailleur and a Shimano cassette. There are 2 models

    Model C10/S9
Adapts Campy Ergo 9 or 10 speed to Shimano derailleurs- Ultegra, Dura-Ace
(model 7700, not new 7800 10 speed), XT or XTR (model 950, not model 960
    Rapid Rise)
Use with any Shimano 9 speed cassette.
Note: You can use either Ergo 9 or 10 speed because both have
the same index ratio (pull per click) but with 10 speed Ergo only 9
    positions are used.

    Model C10/S10
Adapts Campy Ergo 10 speed to new Shimano Dura-Ace 10 speed model 7800 rear
    derailleur and cassette.

The adapter costs approaches what a rear derailleur costs. The
adapter is for XT or XTR rear derailleur. A Veloce or Centaur long
cage will shift the Shimano cassette fine.

Thanks for all your pointers. I ordered it directly from VeloParts,
paying with PayPal. Hopefully, it will fix my shifting problems. It
    should.

  10. The following was pasted from the message that Ray sent me recently,
    Eric

VeloParts makes an adapter which allows you to use Ergo shifters with
    a
Shimano  rear derailleur and a Shimano cassette. There are 2 models

Model C10/S9  (this is the version you need)
Adapts Campy Ergo 9 or 10 speed to Shimano derailleurs- Ultegra,
    Dura-Ace
(model 7700, not new 7800 10 speed), XT or XTR (model 950,  not model
    960
    Rapid Rise)
Use with any Shimano 9 speed cassette.
Note: You can use either Ergo 9 or 10 speed because both have
the same index ratio (pull per click) but with 10 speed Ergo only 9
    positions are used.

    Model C10/S10  (fyi only)
Adapts Campy Ergo 10 speed to new Shimano Dura-Ace 10 speed model 7800
    rear
    derailleur and cassette.

The cable reroute method does work but causes the cable to be pulled
through a sharp bend.  This causes excess friction and difficult
shifting.  The adapter re-aligns the cable adjuster barrel and shifts
are of OEM quality.  The Ergo shifters are extremely rugged.  I have
at least 30,000 mi. on my personal bike.

We have done the 10s ERGO/Rear der with shimano 9s cogset/chain many times and
it works well, indeed. No reason to do the ERGO/shimano rear der thing.

No, the innards are the same thruout(thru Mirage for that matter). Get Centaur
or Veloce for 10s. Differences amount to a hole in the shifter.

In my case I already had the Shimano derailleurs. Also, while many
people say that your method works, I've also heard reports from some
people that it hasn't worked for them. (Peter White has suggested that
the explanation is that the method takes advantage of a certain margin
of error built into both systems, and that the margins may not overlap
in some cases becauses of manufacturing variances in some parts.)

Similarly, I've heard many people say that the Hubbub cable-routing
method works great, but it didn't work for me. I could only shift
across 8 out of 9 sprockets no matter how I adjusted the derailleur.
The fact that I was using a cheap Performance (probably SunRace)
cassette when I tried that may have something to do with my lack of
    success.

No reason other than maybe you already have a Shimano derailleur and
don't want to replace a perfectly good part, or you want the
cassette range provided by the XT/XTR that the Campy can't (?)
handle. What range cassette can Campy handle, BTW?

I have a perfectly good DA rear derailleur and really don't want to get rid
of it. However, the price of a Campy Centaur rear shifter is not that much
more than these adapters, which look a bit goofy. Problem is, I would like
to test the Ergo shifters to make sure my hands like them. I ride mostly
solo and those people I know who ride have Shimano as well. My Shimano
cassette is 12-27 and the standard Campy shifters are rated to 26 teeth so I
wonder if one more tooth would make a difference. Peter?

The long cage rear ders now offered by Campagnolo are as long if not longer
    than XT/XTR-handles a 34t w/o problem.

No. Campy 10spd *short-cage* rear ders can handle gearing as large as
13x29; Campy 9 spd can easily handle 13x28 as both gear ratios are offered
    with Campy short-cage rear der.

  17. fwiw, I considered all of the different Shimano/Campy mix options when
doing a new bike build because I wanted the ERGO shifters and ended up
using 9sp ERGO Chorus shifters and Centaur triple derailleur which has a
rating to 29t but I used with Sheldon Brown's "Century Special" 13-30
(based on a Shimano 12-27) and it shifts perfectly. It didn't seem to
require any special adjustment, and I've talked with others who have
also had no problems with Campy RD shifting a Shimano cassette.

Wheels Manufacturing also converts 9sp Shimano cassettes to 9sp Campy
spacing, but it's expensive and seems unnecessary.

The only reasons I could see using the VeloParts adaptor is if you
already have a Shimano RD or you want a larger cog than 30t, in which
case you'd need the XT or XTR RD.

The cage of the Campagnolo long cage rear der is really long and can be used
    with 34t cogsets w/o problem.

A Campagnolo short cage will work fine with a 12-27. I have put on 13-29
cogsets with doubles and short cage rear ders all the time.

Hmm. When I was originally playing with different configurations I tried
a 12-34 XT cassette with the Centaur long cage (RD9207) derailleur but
could never get it to work properly at all on the 34t even adjusting the
B-screw out as much possible. Which model of RD have you used
    succesfully with a 34t? Thanks.
