My long time Rocky Mountain pal had posted on the local club
board, considering getting an FS, to replace his steel HT.
He was considering some offerings from the Trek family of
bikes. That's when I had to step in.
I had copied, and pasted JD's analogy (did not take credit
for it, and said so), recently posted about the bikes, and
why they break. That's when all the Trek (pretty much all
Trek owners) family bike owners came out of the woodwork,
and the 'self justification' began.
The most absurd were these:
----------
"I like a life time warrantee. Maybe not the best or latest
design, but I've recieved a new frame and a new swing arm,
no problem. I know of others that have too."
"I personally like to break my FS every year or so as
long as it's not catastrophic. I get a new bike and the
latest design."
----------
I was too stunned to even reply
