Hi, I just want to get your opinions. I purchases the SMP plus because of the big cutout down the middle and it continues to the nose, which is then sloped down. To start with, my balls and all the stuff down there couldn't be happier. But the downside is that I feel that it is too wide. Is it possible, because it fits on my sit bones, but the cutout down the middle might make it too wide for my thighs? Did anyone else experience this? And if this is the problem, I wonder if there ever is a seat that really has everything, like I thought this one had. Any feedback would be appreciative

I have no experience with your "stuff".
Hence I can't comment on saddles for you.
If you don't like it, who cares what I think.
Ride it a bit more and see how you go. Maybe you will get used to the nose width.

Why do you think it's too wide for your thighs?
I would check the position of the seat. As I understand it, the various Strike saddles require a position slightly different than other saddles. Google Strike saddle positions and maybe you'll find some better info. Failing that, you might giving Bill Holland a call. He makes custom Ti bikes, but he's also a believer in Strike saddles. I listened to him describe the differences in position between Strikes and other saddles, but to be honest, I didn't pay much attention as I was busy drooling and fantasizing about some of the frames in his shop.

I had the same experience with the SMP Stratos model. Great for reducing pressure on sensitive bits, but just a bit too wide (I could feel pressure from the outer edges after 10 or 20 km). Nothing to do with the cutout making it too wide - they could still have trimmed a bit off the edges if they wanted to- but they didn't, so for my butt size it's not ideal. Sounds like you are having the same problem.
Given that we've both had the same problem with the SMP, you might want to consider the Serfas Stinger Race, which is cheap and the most comfortable saddle I've ever tried.

I have the evolution, and have not experience this problem, maybe its because I am a "short" guy? :p

For my wide hips (measured 109 mm, I’m tall 1,87 cm / 6 feet 2 inches) the PLUS model is probably right, I've tried the GLIDER, PRO and TRK, and only the TRK was wide enough, very comfortable. I've posted a full review of these saddles in another thread. I'll soon order the Plus because the TRK is cheap and bad plastic quality in comparison with the others. (If you want to sell it to me send me an e-mail).

Unless you got it online, SMP has a test ride program where you can test a sample seat. Try that. BUT if ya got it sightunseen..oh well.

As Alienator said, keep in mind that SMP saddles need some fiddling to figure out the correct position. Google it. And see if you can make the saddle work better for you.

Hi:
I've tried three SMP saddles and if the Plus is wide for you, then you shouldn't have any problem changing to a Pro (narrower, also full pading) or a Glider (even narrower, but with padding as well) or any other.
I'm wide hipped, so I'll soon order the Plus (it's the widest).Sell me that Plus (I'll pay shipping to Madrid - Spain)
I'm currently selling my SMP Pro by ebay.com😎 Good luck!

I still cant get used to the SMP it is just tooo wide. I constantly get rash/rubbing at almost the same spot as the sit bone area, just a little down further. When I went back to my Fly seat i instantly noticed the difference, but instead of getting rashed/rubbed in the "fold" of your ass/leg i got a rash right on my legs beside my balls. So I ride, but not as often, I can't find a seat that is Wide enough for my sit bones, the fly is not wide enough. But wide enough for my sitbones, and then narrow enough right away when it comes to the nose and stuff. I am 5'11 and 270. Muscular, so that being said aren't heavy muscular guys supposed to have a seat built for them? If anyone has any ideas please please post. I have tried fizik, smp, fly, specialized any other ideas, and the serfas stinger is not side enough for my sit bones. any help is appreciated

Even though the width of the saddle at the top of the nose is too wide, the center channel rocks! It is a great saddle if you dont have huge legs that come together at the top like me.
