    Alivio is the name and it better be dirt cheap because it's really not much use on a mountainbike
    unless it never leaves pavement!

    I've never seen either sold as a "group". Maybe that's reserved for higher-end stuff?

    At that level you might be better off buying a whole bike, as all the individual components might
    cost (nearly) as much.

    There's both an Alivio and Acera group. Neither is really that horrible. They work, but
    they're heavy.

  6. I had Alivio years ago they were bomb proof but heavy and expensive at the time. (the shifter/brake
    lever combos were £100 per pair!)
