shops. I was shopping there myself last week and got a Paramo shirt at
The Mountain Factor in Lake Road at 20% discount, £44 instead of £55.
They aren't on the web page above and neither is Adventure Peaks, also
in Lake Road, who have some ex-expedition equipment at lower prices.
Cunningham's are giving 10% off Paramo equipment at present, useful to
know if the Mountain Factor has ended their 20%.

Gaynor Sports have a wide range of sandals which would be a useful
starting point to check prices.

Oh yes, you'll be able to get all of those. Just watch out for all the
other stuff that jumps out shouting "BUY ME! BUY ME!" Ambleside can be
expensive. :-( Oh, and watch out for the Serious Walkers. :-)

I need to try on everything as very few things will fit me properly,
especially footwear.

As for buying 'noisy' items - no way!

I used to be a 'serious walker' in the true sense, not like the modern
type.

Actually, in the '70s, saw a chap in a car park near Ingleborough; he had
'all the gear' and was immaculate. *h later, when we got back from a
sweaty, somewhat muddy walk, he was there again, with not a mark on
anything. Still, he looked serious.

Well, we're off to the Lakes tomorrow. Judging by the weather forecast,
we'll be spending some time in the shops :-(
I'm certainly not attempting to get The Lass up Scafell Pike or Helvellyn
in anything but reasonable weather. She's not been on any sort of rock or
exposed routes (this would include Striding Edge) and I've not walked on
these hills for about 30 years, so t'would be daft to trry.

Looks like I've been sheltering from a fine spell.
