I don't remember having this problem when I ran in high school (20 years
ago). I bought a pair of v-notch shorts, about 4" inseam I think, and
they constantly bunch up in the crotch area, it's very distracting.

I also have a pair of long nylon shorts, I think 6+" inseam. These
don't bunch up as much, the material is also heavier.

I'd like a light pair of shorts with room for my legs to move, without
having them constantly bunch up. It feels like a frontal wedgie and
throws me off throughout my run. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem. The guy at the running store said that they're
either too large for me, or perhaps the brand is no good for my body shape
(which resembles either a pear or a penquin depending on who you ask... :-))

I would suggest buying 1 size smaller, or maybe trying some different
brands. I switched to a different brand, and I'm happy now.

    Regards,
    H.

  11. Its from having fat thighs - use the longer inseam ones

You can see my thighs? I don't even have a webcam. Creepy!

i have only seen this happen with fat people. skinny
folk whose thighs don't touch, don't have this issue.
    maybe that's a measurement tool.

I do have thick thighs, I'm a bit short and squat, maybe that's it. But
they are the same thighs I had in high school. I looked at Road Runner
Sports website, and they have 4 different types of shorts: v-notch,
baggies, splits, and fitness. I was wondering if anyone here maybe
faced the same problem and found a particular type and/or inseam length
    to be better.

If Mr. Tony wants to say it's because my gut is fat, he'd be more
accurate. My thighs don't have an ounce of fat on them.

Skinny people can sometimes have thighs that touch if they have built up
that muscle on the inside of their thighs next to their crotch. I
haven't noticed running really does anything for this muscle though.
Maybe you didn't know there could be a muscle in that spot? Sports where
you move your legs out to the side and back in over and over (instead
of moving them forwards and backwards) will use it heavily.

To the OP- Shorts bunch up on me if there is too much material, although
my thighs do touch, so I've been relegated to "fat". But since switching
to tight little boys' boxer shorts, I haven't had a problem (with
bunching that is...no extra material) Tight lycra is good too, although
the "real" runners will make fun of you, but then again, they are
    already calling you fat..

    Well, I sorta knew.

Sure, I think I know, that!

All cotton, red & blue stripes,

    Say, something from The Gap?

    Lycra kewl.
But the Real is %100 Cotton.

    Great discussion,
    Arcane topic.

They were invented in China during the Warring States period.

  20. I've never had a problem with this because of the large mass up
front that holds the fabric down, if you know what I mean... ;-)

Hip abductors and adductors. One moves the leg inwards, the other
outwards. I can never remember which is which.

Wise runners will hit these muscles in the gym. You don't need
them when going forward, but they can save your *** if the ground
gives under you, you step on ice, you need to jump out of the way
of a car, you're attacked by an Irishman in a kilt, etc.

I've been wearing lycra shorts under longish shorts. They still
bunch, but there's not much I can do about it and it's better than
having all of the women, and a few guys, swooning as I go by.
