"Through the 1990s, the average weight of Americans increased by 10
pounds, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(news - web sites). The extra weight caused airlines to spend $275
million to burn 350 million more gallons of fuel in 2000 just to carry
the additional weight of Americans, the federal agency estimated in a
recent issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. "

would smoke cigs. Weed's another story all together... -
No, but I do support mandatory sterilization of runners, for the good of
the herd. -
Some airlines charge two seats to very large people.
Too bad that didnt happen when I had a middle seat between too obese
people on a recent Jet Blue flight. -

of us feel better. But in real life, that's never going to happen because
they know that the first fat slob that gets charged for 2 seats is going to
sue them, and will probably win. Besides, the poor ticket agents at the
counter aren't going to risk causing a scene when they have to tell Mr. or
Mrs. Tub O' Lard that s/he needs two tickets to fly. The agents don't care,
they're not going on the airplane, so why should they make life more
difficult for themselves? They're not.Besides, if you haven't noticed, there's more of *them* than there are of
*us*, so why should the airlines bite the hand that feeds them? They won't.Regards,
