Silpat care

Hi Cathy:

I have a Silpat and another silicone mat. Both were rolled up when
purchased, so I assume it's ok to keep them rolled. As for cleaning, I
hand-wash. Nothing sticks very well to them, so it's no big deal to
hand-wash.

(Not like that supposedly-lasts-forever-nonstick-pan that I just tossed
into the garbage yesterday cuz I was gettin real sick of everything
STICKING to it!! OK, rant over....)

One thing I can say from experience, do NOT attempt to slice the bread
while it's on the Silpat..... no matter how careful you are..... :-(

My silicone baking sheet came rolled and said it could be stored flat or
rolled. I wash it with soap & water and I've put it in the dishwasher.

Silicone and all other elastomers undergo compression set
(a.k.a. "creep"😉, therefore rolling will slowly give it
a curl. I'd recommend storing it flat.

Urk! I've never folded it, but I've kept mine rolled for almost 6
years now. No creep :-)

i've kept mine rolled up with a paper towel for years... i think when i
bought it, it was rolled up in a box.

Urk! I've never folded it, but I've kept mine rolled for almost 6
years now. No creep :-)
