  1. I am looking for a BMX freewheel that works well with a narrow speed chain- a 9 speed chain. Any of
you single speed tech out there can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

I can't comment about BMX freewheels, but I'd urge some caution in using a 9-speed chain with them.
I have found that the dimensions of the inner links of many 9-speed (and, by extension, 10-speed
too) are too narrow to be paired with premium track 3/32" sprockets. Unless you are certain that the
sprocket width of the freewheel you're considering will allow it to mesh with a 9s chain (without
forcing it), you're probably better served with a chain designed for 8 (or fewer) speeds.

    Dear Andrew,

A higher-pitched, more pleasing note when the thinner chain is twanged under tension?

    Just as curious,

there is a freewheel that will use a 9sp chain, but 8sp chain for sure. There are also cassette
sprockets that you can look into. Why the 9sp chain on a single? for lightness? -tom

I thought I already answered this one, but I checked and all of the singlespeed freewheels we sell
will work with any 1/2" chain.
