This MAY be a bit too elaborate a fix, but some of the fountain pen
people claim great success using silicone gasket compound or very small
O-rings to seal pens -- so they can flood the whole body of the pen
with ink, instead of using cartridges or a converter unit. This MAY
keep the lub solvent from migrating past the threads to the tape
adhesive.

If there's a Container Store near you, they sell polyethylene
screw-top bottles all the way down to that size, including ones with
flip-up nozzles. I've used them for shampoo and such in my travel kit
with zero leakage despite rough handling, pressure changes, long
periods of riding in a vehicle that was subject to heavy vibration,
and other abuse.

I think it's something about jouncing over a longish period of time.

My guess is that it's more the motion of the hips while pedaling than the
surface ridden on. I'm a pretty pathetic rider - mainly a JRA type that's just
trying to stay as far away from cars as I can. If there's a technical route
and a fire road route, it's a no-brainer for me: I'll take the fire road every
time.

Sometimes I also carry a little digital camera with me. After awhile, three
of the screws holding the case together were just *gone*...

Go to a camping supply store and check out their small Lexan bottles.
I found a 1 oz bottle at REI that works great- screw-on cap with a
flip-up nozzle. It's never leaked thus far, but I carry it in a
small ziploc baggie just in case.

Go to your local Borg (Home Depot, Lowes, etc), and get some PVC parts.
Cement a 1/2" cap onto a short length of 1/2" pipe. Cement a male
threaded adaptor to the other end of the pipe, and use a threaded cap
on that end.

Since the threads are tapered plumbing type, you can tighten to a point
that it's never going to bounce off.

It may be possible to just cap off the bottome of the male adaptor, but
I'd have to have the PVC bins in front of me to figure out how. At the
very least, you can probably do it with just 1" of pipe, so that none
of it shows.

You might also look at some of the "child-proof" medicine bottles. It seems
to me they require a special kind of pressure/torque to loosen.

Make small holes in the cap near the bottom, and the little bottom-out lip
of the dropper part. Use safety wire through these holes.

I have carried a bit of oil in my pack for years, and it has never
leaked. Unless ProLink is really nasty stuff, this should work.

Go to the 7-11 or most any other Stop-And-Rob. At the counter you will
find a wee little 1/8 oz or so bottle of breath freshener. These little
bottles are tough, and the nipple pops out of the bottle and fits snugly
back in. The screw top seals very well.

As I say, I've used these for a long time and have never had one leak.

Take two or three along, they're small.

While in the US, I bought something in a kind-of syringe (bought several)
called Teflon Drivetrain Lubricant, by Dupont. Is that out of production ?

Some bike lube companies have little sample tubes they give away
at bike shows, etc. Each tube is enough to lube your chain a couple of
times. Call Prolink and ask if they have these.

I got a bunch of these once. I don't remember the exact brand but the oil
was supposedly the same as Pedros. They were handy for long rides where
I got stuck in downpours, etc.

I don't know why bike shops don't sell these.

I have a 1/8 fl oz. or 3.7 ml, "Sweet Breath" freshener container on my
desk. It is from Health-Tech, Inc. Totowa, NJ. I suppose there are
other equally small breath freshener products available at many
pharmacies and food markets. The cap seems quite tight, and the inner
nozzle is removable and can be replaced with little difficulty. The
container is a transparent plastic that would allow you to see your
Prolink. BTW, I have been using Prolink for a few years now with very
good results.
