I have a Cuisinart Smart Power Duet (food processor/blender) that is
wonderful with ice. I highly recommend it. I have a Waring blender
also that is very good for other things (the base of the jar is
smaller so it works well for small quantities, such as pesto).

I don't think you'll find any consumer level machines that will do the
job and commercial grade machines aren't cheap. According to the
hype, these are used by Jamba Juice and Starbucks, which I can neither
confirm nor deny. I do know whatever JJ is using, it makes a superior
smoothie.

Some blenders can't cope with ice. They aren't strong enough. The ultimate
home blender is the VitaMix. Not cheap, but with ample power to crush ice
and everything else.

products mentioned and start stocking up on icecubes and fruit!

I like not diluting my smoothie with too much ice/water. Unless I am
dehydrated, I'd prefer to get more vitamins out of the volume I consume.

I like to add a shot of mangosteen and/or noni or those other oxidant juices
to mine to give me a little extra oomph. Mangosteen -- ummmm!

featuring a super strong blender called the "RPM Blender," with a
tachometer on the front.

That is so funny to me, an owner of a Vitamix. DH and I always look at each
other and say, "Hold your ears" before we turn it on. Honestly, I don't
know what the decibles are, but it is like a jet plane in your face.

But with a tachometer on the front -- that's over the top!
