I've just been battling along the ridge of the Malvern Hills [*] in
snow. Pretty wet horrible stuff, but definitely snow.

[*] I battled the ten yards from the car to the bar of the Camp Hotel,
but it was frightening while it lasted.

Settling even (maybe 1" so far). Someone apparently forgot to grit the
road last night, so traffic is currently low to none (the road is
passable, but locals have more sense than to risk it).

Dull, raw, cold as charity, and I wore me fleece jacket under me winter
coat to go to B&Q!

No snow, thank all the deities. Kent always gets the 'wrong shape of
snow' and is NEVER ready for it! Got snowed in for a week once, which
was less fun than it should have been as the pub ran out of beer!

Settling on the gardens now in Worcestershire. We haven't got much at
the moment, but tomorrow morning might be interesting.

The latest from the Met Office is:

"West Midlands:
Herefordshire
Shropshire
Staffordshire
Stoke-on-Trent
Telford + Wrekin
W Midlands
Warwickshire
Worcestershire

Heavy rain is expected to turn to snow in many places during this
afternoon, evening and into the early hours of Monday. Snow is likely to
settle mainly above 200 metres. 5cm are likely in places with 10 to 15cm
possible across hills above 300 metres. Later tonight, snow is likely to
turn back to rain with a slow thaw setting in."

It's settling at 100 metres here.

Had sleet the other day here in the south of France, which I didn't
expect to see. It was snow a little higher up, but all seemed to have
melted by the time I went out today.

I did consider hibernation, but then decided that it would be even more
frightening if I had to pay The Camp's prices (aka The Malvern Hills
Hotel) until spring.

roads, power supplies cut, trees down, etc. The forecast here (5 day,
BBC) was heavy rain - today was supposed to be showers. Still no mention
of it being knee deep in white stuff.

Given the huge variation in weather forecasts over the week, it's not
surprising that one of them got it somewhere nearly right.

Yep, it started here about 11:30 am Sunday and snowed all through to
this AM. To be fair, down at Ludlow there is very little left (not sure
there ever was a lot) but at 1000' up between the Clee Hills I collected
7" .. luckily no drifting, because the forecast 'strong winds' failed to
show up with the forecast 'heavy rain'. Will put some photo's ('snaps'😉
up when I get a minute .. has to be a record for mid November, at least
for many years.

Power off 6 times yesterday, mostly for short periods, and then from
8am-11:30 today, and again from 12:30-1PM. Water will be off shortly,
since the local booster pumps have quit. Ah the joys of life up the
hills. 8<,

Lots of partly broken trees from the weight of snow on the (bare)
branches, plus at least one completely downed (roots pulled out).

Yep, that's pretty close to the one I use. WHY I use it I have no idea -
