LEGAL NOTICE
RE: LANCE ARMSTRONG - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lance Armstrong has reacted with concern and dismay at the false allegations
made by David Walsh, Chief Sports Writer of the Sunday Times. The
allegations appear in a forthcoming book entitled 'LA Confidential',
co-written with Pierre Ballester and to be published in France. Extracts
from the book have appeared in L'Express and some of the book's allegations
were repeated in yesterday's Sunday Times.

Lance Armstrong utterly denies ever
having taken any performance enhancing drugs.

Accordingly, Lance Armstrong has instructed his lawyers to immediately
institute libel proceedings

1) In the High Court in London against the Sunday Times and David Walsh
seeking an injunction and substantial damages

2) In Paris, against David Walsh, Pierre Ballester, the publishers of 'LA
Confidential' and the publishers of L'Express.

Proceedings will be filed in the High Court tomorrow.

Of course, this is damage control to head off the stress of the Tour press
conferences. Regardless of whether the libel suit is successful or
unsuccessful Lance can deflect any questions regarding doping or allegations
made in the book by refusing to comment as a result of ongoing legal
processes.

Well, one can only hope that when Lance is finished with Walsh, Davey will
be reduced to living in a cardboard box behind the nearest McDonalds. Of
course, those already living in boxes behind the McDonalds will not

Good question. What's the motive to speak now? Could Armstrong's diatribe
against [censored] Pound have anything to do with it? Did they feel the hypocrisy
level had reached critical mass? I really don't know when Emma chose to
speak, but apparently Walsh has been working on the book for three years.
She is also reported to have kept a contemporaneous diary which will make
interesting reading a any trial held down the road.

Neither Lance or LeBlanc got with Walsh's program, and he is gunning for them
now. Just opinion, of course.

Another question: since Walsh has a bully pulpit as a big-time sports writer,
why didn't he deliver Emma and Swart's accusations, complete with reprints of
Emma's supposed contemporaneous diary, in his newspaper column? The word
"payday" pops to mind. Guess I'm just the suspicious type when someone is
asserting their morality when there's profit in the picture as well. I see a
strong personal dislike component here, too. Part of the "not getting with the
program" from this viewpoint.

Let's see some real "proof" before convicting of hypocrisy. "Everyone knows",
"I dumped needles", "I picked up a package from Spain" are lacking, especially
given the timeline. Yeah, Virenque's apparent evasions notwithstanding, let's
get a positive test, A and B samples included. If you're so proud of
circumstantial evidence, let's point out the numbers of falsely convicted
people let out of jail after being exonerated by DNA testing. Again, this whole

Right, he should instead have written a book about Obree with
references and testimonials about his inability to adjust to pro cycling
because of his refusal to take drugs. That would probably have sold as
many copies as there were people who saw the movie based on his life.

I have Obree's book and it is excellent. If Walsh writes about Obree, I'll
buy it. I have other of his books. :-)

Hey, living in a city where I get to see stupidity in action on a daily
basis I just might have an opinion on this stuff. Especially when you can
walk through any casino in the city and see people who would rather stuff
the last dollar of their paycheck into a nickle slot than pay the rent. Of
course, I can't complain too much. Their stupidity is what allows me the
privilege of not having to pay a state income tax. So drop a couple of
quarters the next time you're in Vegas.
