Some drivers!

I had a similar escapade a few months ago and it was really a Man in a
WHITE VAN that hassled me. I was lucky to speak to a Police officer
that happened to be a cyclist and he had "Words" with the driver.
Always report it if you can get some details!

Commiserations. I've had very similar once - not nice. He (in this
case) didn't wish cancer on me, but having asserted he'd have me off
my bike, roared off wheels spinning. Some way down the road, as I
went past a junction, he came roaring out of the side road, again
wheels spinning, and I thought he really had decided to kill me.
Having emerged behind me, he went past sooo close I was actually
surprised I remained upright.

Drivers have a bad attitude generally. They are terrible at traffic
lights. If their not already in your cyclist's box, they're revving
their engines and edging up to and over the white line. Then they think
their great when they engage their drive before you set of and zoom
off.

Does that explain why so many POB's ride through the large advanced stop
box and stop in the middle of the junction (google earth 50 56 15 37n 1
23 47 43w) often causing problems for the uni-link bus drivers?

Yes -- some drivers are tossers. But it is simply incorrect to tar them all
with the same brush. Some drivers also ride bikes, some are polite, many
are simply not noticed because they do everything right. There are even --
shock/horror -- some good drivers out there.

It makes no sense to claim that all drivers are bad when it is clearly not
the case. We need to encourage the good and educate (or emasculate
(effeminate??)) the bad -- in exactly the same way that we should be
educating cyclists and people on bikes to cycle responsibly.

Tribalism is not the solution -- especially when most cyclists are also
drivers and pedestrians as well.
