  1. I was at the drugstore to pick up a few items for my trip,
including scrunchies to hold my hair back with. A non-USian
woman was on the aisle looking at hair colour. Excuse me, I
like this colour but what does it mean "with highlights"?
She was looking at one of those products where you colour
your hair then paint in highlights. I explained. Oh, okay.
But I relaxed my hair, can I use this? I took the box from
her, saying they usually have this information on the side.
Ah, there, no not recommended for just relaxed hair. She
said, Oh, but it was 5 weeks ago. Well, then, I would do the
colour strand test if you want to try it. The instructions
inside tell you to snip a small bit of hair and see what it
does. Okay, thank you! A minute later she asked me, do you
like this shade for me or this one? Oh, definitely the
second one. Goes with your skin better. She thanked me
profusely; said she was new to this country from Etheopia,
Africa. I smiled and said you're welcome! Felt like I'd done
    a good deed
    🙂

Next stop, the little store down the street for some bulk
breakfast sausage and noodles for a dish I'm making for
dinner. This is the OB FOOD (and "comes around"😉 part. While
in there, they had just closed up the lunch counter. While
I'm checking out, the guy said, would you like some corn
muffins? We're just going to throw them out. Sure! So I came
home with my purchases and also half a dozen cornbread
muffins, 3 plain and 3 with jalapenos, free of charge 🙂

What a nice post! The kind that puts a smile on your face.
Positive posts are wonderful. We see enough bickering in
"regular life", let alone on Usenet.

Maybe the "comes around" part is that the muffins will cause
    you to get fat.

You weren't helping her to get something, you were just
being nice. So the Universe rewarded you. Cool... :-)

Great story! Remember to tell your grandchildren. They'll
    like it too.

    And enjoy the muffins!

And you HAD done a good deed !! I really like the fact that
you seem to be friendly and helpful to people, I try to be
that way too, and I am betting a lot of us are like that.
Gives you a nice warm feeling !!

  7. Nice act of kindness, nice story, quibble with the
    subject line.

"What goes around comes around" is an expression, like "you
make your bed, you lie in it" that I always associate with
the negative side of karma. For the same sentiment stated in
the positive, I prefer "as you sow so shall you reap." Or
    help me with another.

See, there ya go...being nice doesn't cost you anything and
you just may end up being nicely rewarded ;-)

Hmmm, you have a point there 🙂 I wasn't in my best literary
form; I was still surprised about the free muffins!

ROFL true, only minutes between the one incident and the
next 😉 I believe in Karma, too.
