Specialized s-works E5 2006

I'm interested in buying a Specialized s-works E5 2006 frame and doing it up. Has anyone had any experiences on this bike? I would love some suggestions. I know it rides pretty sweet. Specialized does something odd with their alu/carbon s-works E-5; the downtube, part of the seattube, and the chainstays are aluminum, while the seatstays, toptube and the other part of the seattube are carbon. I rode on the 2005 s-works E-5 and found it to be a pretty good ride. I think that it's actually stiffer than the full carbon s-works tarmac in the bottom bracket area, but because of all the aluminum it rides a bit harsher. So I guess it really depends on how you're going to use it.

I'd probably take the giant or the scott over the E-5; any reason you aren't looking at the full carbon s-works tarmac?

Having an E5 Tarmac, Id take the E5 over the Giand definitely.

The s-works tarmac is alot more expensive. I can get a very good deal on the 2006 s-works E5. Just not sure whether its worth it at the moment! I have a GIANT TCR C2 at the moment but am interested in building a better bike! would the TCR C2 kick the s-works butt??

Seeing as the E5 is one of the lighter Alu framesets (if I remember correctly), I would say the E5 wins. Alot of the people in my club are riding the E5's (Im the oddbal with the Tarmac), and racing their Felts. No one I know of has any problems with them, and we have some fast racers that can flex anything. I dont hear them complaining. Some of these frames are '03's too, and have held up very well considering the amount of miles on them.

And when I say people in my club, Id say probably about 18-20 have them...

I think mine was around 1270 for the frame? I think thats about right.
