It's langostino meat. It should be fairly tasty - kind of a
cross between lobster and rock shrimp.

Squat lobster is native here ( w Scotland) and is not the same
animal as either langoustines or lobster; they are very skinny
spiny-claw things and the only appreciable amount of meat is in the
tail.

The closest taste I can describe, is like white-meat from crab; sweet
and firm.

If it's langostino, it should be sweet tasting. We used to be able to get
langostino at our fish monger until about 30 years ago. Then we had a big,
bad El Nino or such and it wiped out the feeding grounds or something.
Lately we are seeing mention of langostino again. Perhaps the crop has
recovered -- hope so, love the stuff.

The large cubes (about 1 inch) in the frozen bag I saw perhaps
indicates that they are compacting the meat by some process. Well,
maybe I will buy a bag and see how it is.

That's what I equate it to, sky. I like it, but like a crawfish, there just
isn't much meat for the price.

Hadn't heard of it before the post, but it's certainly an interesting
looking beast!
