SUPERGO - WARNING! Shipping method switched

B

Bill

Guest
Just placed an order with SUPERGO.Com

Selected "UPS Two Day" shipping on the check out - 9.25 ( vs
Ups Ground at
6.50)

When the order was finalized, the shipping method
description was changed to Ups Ground - but the shipping
charges were still 9.25

The confirmation Email also indicated "Ground
Shipping" - at 9.25

I've got screen shots of the "Submit Your Order" and "Order
Summary" www pages to prove the switch was made.

Buyers beware.

Bill, Maybe it takes two days to get to you by Ground so
what's the problem? If it doesn't get there in 2 days, call
Supergo... Snake

You can't charge for ups-two day and then deliver via
ground.

The practice is illegal and dishonest.

Bill:

Call their customer service and tell them what happened. I'm
sure they'll credit your card if you really were
overcharged. Might even throw in something to make all right
in the world. I've dealt with them before, and they're a
solid company.

Hi John,

Thanks for your input, but I can not agree.

> Call their customer service and tell them what happened.

Still waiting for a response to email sent to their
Customer Service.

> I'm sure they'll credit your card if you really were
> overcharged.

Gotta wonder how many people have even noticed this switch
being made - let alone taken the time to document the
offense by making screen-shots of the offending WWW sales
order pages.

> Might even throw in something to make all right in
> the world.

Bribery? No sale.

Please just give me what I paid for.

> I've dealt with them before, and they're a solid company.

We'll see, I thought I'd try Supergo after finally getting
fed up with PerformanceBike.com's SOP of charging my credit
card on the date an order is placed - a week or more before
the items are actually shipped. And my LAST
PerformanceBike.com order was shipped via usps instead of
Fedex - which I KNOW I selected but can not prove - thus my
caution in documenting the shipment method on my first and
probably LAST Supergo order.

"It's only wrong if you get caught", Right?

If you care about succeeding, don't waste your time with
email. Pick up the phone, and don't let them hang up til
you're satisfied. Otherwise you are wasting your time.

It's amazing how the vast majority of us deal with all
these companies without complaint for years. Then we get
these Anger Posters who seem to have problems with every
company with whom they deal. No one is good enough, and
everyone is out to scam them. Makes you wonder just who is
screwing with whom.

I just ordered from Nashbar and was charged sales tax so I
ask why. Well they're owned by Performance now, which is NC,
USA based.

Simple.

FWIW, I received an email response from their customer
service, claiming "We don't ship UPS, we ship Fedex".

I sent her a copy of the screenshot that clearly says
"UPS TWO DAY".

There's certainly no competition in the mailorder bike biz
as the list below indicates!

www.coloradocyclist.com www.excelsports.com
www.pricepoint.com www.schwabcycles.com www.chucksbikes.com
www.nashbar.com (I know, they're owned by performance)
www.bulltek.com www.cbike.com

etc., etc.

"Ed",

I could be wrong, but it looks like, with the exception of
PricePoint, the links you listed all appear to be primarily
single store LBS with a WWW site.

Which of these little fish has the cash reserves and mass
quantity buying power to compete with PerformanceBike AKA
Nashbar AKA SuperGo?

Why are there laws against Monopolies?

Oh, and FWIW, I've been buying from PerformanceBike since
1984 - when they were mail order.

Another link you did not list is http://www.tri-zone.com/ -
been buying from them for years and have never had a bad
experience.

Just a couple of comments.

> I could be wrong, but it looks like, with the exception of
> PricePoint, the links you listed all appear to be

Check price and selection and then let me know whether or
not they are competing.

> Which of these little fish has the cash reserves and mass

> Nashbar AKA SuperGo?

Apparently they all do, because they have survived. If
Performance was excersizing monopoly power, wouldn't
these have been crushed? I've found better selection and
price at Excel Sports, for example, than from the
Performance monolith.

> Why are there laws against Monopolies?

With zillions of local bike shops, internet sources (shops
or chains or mail order only outlets or otherwise), and
ebay, I find it very hard to believe that any single entity
is poised to monopolize the retail bike industry. You might
instead direct your trust-busting activities to Shimano, the
'Microsoft' of bike parts. (Although Campy is a bit more of
a competitor than Apple.)

The key difference there is that Shimano makes good
products.

>>With zillions of local bike shops,

Make that "zillions" minus 2.

There were 2 LBS on the route I commute to work. Each, in a
separate town - until the towns grew into cities and the
cities grew together, as happens via urban sprawl.

A store-front mall was built in a former strawberry field
along the country road that connected the two towns. One of
those store fronts was occupied by a new Performance
retailer. Yes! "This is a good thing", I thought. I'd been a
Performance member for years - better selection, prices, and
now with the retailer - no shipping.

In the past, I'd only bought more expensive items on-
line. Tubes, lubes - maintenance stuff I'd generally buy
at the LBS.

The new Performance store had better prices, and sales... so
I began buying my tubes, lubes, and maintenance stuff at the
new Performance LBS.

Despite my numerous tube and lube purchases, the Performance
retail shop did not survive the recession.

Unfortunately, neither did the original LBS. So now I have
no LBS on my ride home... Can't help but wonder if this is
not a consequence of the choices I made as a consumer.

When I have a choice, I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart - but I
never equated Performance to Wal-Mart before... until now.

20-20 hindsight. Live and learn.
