Hi there, Besides vitamins and the illegal stuffs, I would like to find out what are the 'sure fire' supplements that really enhance performance. Things like L- carnitine, L- glutamine, Coenzyme Q10 and the likes.
And who says any of the above enhances anything? For every study that says pill/fluid/powder X will make you jump tall buildings in a single bound, you can find another study that says is all a crock of [censored]. Other then steroids the best enhancement booster is solid training and this includes good balanced nutrition sans any magic potions.

And steroids - though very real and highly effective - are surely number two behind solid training, even though your sentence above could be read as implying the reverse. If you're only gonna do one or the other, train and skip the 'roids.
For endurance running, EPO is way up there as well.
Your fast gal pal J.e.F. who no longer posts here once seemed interested in cordyceps. Any idea if she followed up and her experiences?
"Researchers in Oregon examined the benefits of vitamin E supplements for runners in a 50-kilometer (31 mile) ultramarathon in Corvallis. Their study found that runners taking vitamin E did not experience the usual increase in lipid oxidation - a kind of damage that can weaken cells and cause long-term cardiovascular problems - that results from extreme exercise".

Of course I ate turkey, when my COON hunting dog wrestled up some grub for me in the form of roadkill. Well so what if it was just watermelon, I like watermelon.

My poorly stated point was to use training as the only way.

I have no idea about Jen and cordyceps. She did just finish a recent marathon and is still running in the high 2:50's and placing in the top 5 babes. IMO, she is doing very well but at her genetic max. Then again, who knows, maybe having a little one will take her up another notch.

Now I know why they publish stuff like this - there are gullible people that read it AND believe it. It's such a crock of [censored] because it is not controlled in any way. It could be the E, the water or the boiled spuds. Even E as an anti-oxidant is under question by the science community. In fact some recent studies have shown higher does of E have raised mortality rates. A similar study of looking at other studies and drawing SWAG conclusions. So one study shows it helps and another says it will kill you. What it all says, they are not really sure about anything.
I happen to take 400 E a day because I'm still thick headed that it does have anti-oxidant goodness and I don't eat balanced every day.
If there is eating going on it's going to be you getting a chocolate gullibility award. Do you also read the National Enquirer and watch Fox News for all you facts. 😉

Nah, I'm sure he's like me and watches CNN for all the "facts." ;-)

Just so I am clear here, you're discrediting a published study in the May '05 publication of Free Radical Biology & Medicine that you've not read. You're also asserting the work of Dr. Maret Traber of the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University is a "crock of [censored]", even though you've not reviewed her work.
How is an uninformed and unaccredited mind, closed and made up, not very "Fox News-esque"? So much for wisdom coming with age.

Fox News is very informed compared to you Eastern dolts that are constantly whining at each other.

Ah, Dhali, Dhali, I see you are back, Dhaliwal. Dude, it's curious how you always choose these WASP names for your handles. Stan/Mitch/Jon/John/whatnot... How about a Panjabi name for a change? Still afraid of your culture?
