We're very careful about keeping human foods away from nosey kitties.
With 5 roaming the house, I can leave nothing out. I learned this years
ago. :-) Popie, our little girl tuxedo, will eat anything she can find
and particularly likes butter and margarine!

Alas, we had to find a new owner for Max. It seemed to be working out at
first, but as the weeks went by, it became obvious he was really
terrorizing the kitties. In what had been a very peaceful household, two
of our babies became nervous wrecks, afraid of even our approach. Bailey,
our alpha male finally made up his mind he wasn't taking any more advances
from Max, and would attack him unprovoked.

Since we both work and are away from the house nearly 12 hours a day, it
became an untenable situation. We found a young couple with two boys,
ages 6 and 9, who already had a puppy about Max's age and were seeking a
companion for it. Max was ideal. These folks have a large walled-in back
yard and the wife is a stay at home mom. Seemed like a perfect situation.
We miss Max, but we know that he has a better home there, and we have
returned to reasonable normalcy, although Millie is still recoverying from
the "trauma". Millie is 14.

Thanks for remembering our kitties, and especially for remembering Max.

Thanks, Dee. I'm sure something will work out after we eventually move to

Thanks, Nancy. It was a huge relief for all concerned. We have visited
Max twice since he left us, and he seems to be really happy. He's one of
those unflappable puppies who wants to make friends and love everyone. The
only one's who didn't take to that too well were the kitties. :-(

It's really good! I have since eaten one more little piece (slap my hand).
I really did expect it to be good, since I've made and eaten the Chili
Orange Chocolate Cake posted here in rfc, as well as a chocolate chili cake
at a restaurant. The sweet and hot are very complimentary.

weird but taste good. Two I've tried are sea salt and chocolate, and
cardomom and chocolate. I like both. Ideal in small amounts, after
dinner or before, with sparkling wine.

I made a schmeer (sp?) for DS's party that was cream cheese mixed with
jalapeno jelly, a dash of cayenne and a bit of green chile jelly - it
was sweet and hot too, and pretty tasty on a sesame bagel!

I've not tried the peanut brittle but I have discovered 'sweet heat'.
You're right...it's a surprisingly wonderful combo, and addictive.
